As a doula, I will support your family so you can focus on your new relationship. Sometimes this means an extra pair of hands, someone to discuss questions with, mind other children, or help with other duties so that you and baby can bond, rest and heal.
Over the past decade of working as a doula, I’ve cared for many types of families; single parents, multiples, premature babies, parents with postpartum mood disorders and neurodivergent families. I work from a gender affirming, queer inclusive, trauma-informed, fat positive, anti-racist framework and continue to look inwards and be open to learning and new experiences.
I’ve always been a helper and came to doula work from nannying. Though I enjoy working with babies and children of many ages, I increasingly found myself working with young babies. I have seen firsthand how much hands-on support, time, listening, and holding space can mean to a family. I found the experience of being able to support not only children, but parents and families to be so rewarding. Watching families find their footing, gain confidence and grow is an amazing thing to witness.
The experience and needs of the postpartum period are often undervalued and I want to be part of the shift in mindset to see the fourth trimester as what it is; beautiful, transformative, difficult, joyful, and life-changing
Outside of my work I am a mum to a 7 year old daughter. I am a potter and food enthusiast. I love cooking, baking, and growing vegetables.
